Pangea One World Expedition
Three hundred million years ago
our Earth comprised of one
Tlandmass that has been given
the name of Pangea. Pangea broke up
into Laurasia (comprising of Eurasia
& North America) and Gondwanaland
(Africa, South America, Antarctica,
India and Australia).
After the successful 25,200km
Gondwanaland Expedition
undertaken in 2006-from the
Indian Himalaya to Cape Agulhus,
the southernmost tip of Africa - the
celebrated explorer and Author Akhil Bakshi
and Dr. Rajendra Jain sets out on the 35000km
Pangea One World Expedition - an
overland journey from the Arctic to
the Antarctic.
Starting in September 2013 from Dead Horse Creek on the Arctic Ocean
in Alaska, the four-month journey
ended at Cape Horn, the southernmost
tip of South America.
Expedition Objectives
The focus of the expedition was
climate change - a serious issue
that has pan-world implications.
During the journey meetings were
held with Environment Scientists,
Metrologists, Hydrographers and
Agronomists to study actions being
taken by various countries on
monitoring the status of climate
change and on their preparedness to
meet the challenge.
The Route
Expedition started from Dead Horse Creek on the Arctic Ocean on 4th Sep. 2013 travelled through Alaska by road on Public Transport. Reached to Washington State of USA by Ship, took a train in California reached to San Diego. From here onwards the whole journey was in Public Trnsport Buses upto southern most tip of Argentina. Expedition travelled from USA to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina & reached Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of South America.
